India's Golden run - 2010 Asian Games

Asian Games 2010
India finished at 6th spot on medal tally at Guangzhou with 14 gold, 17 silver and 33 bronze medals totaling 65 medals, India's best performance so far in the Asian Games. China clearly dominated the tally with winning almost half of the gold medals on offer now performing much better and finishing well ahead of old arch-rival Japan who finished at third place with South Koreans on second.

This games was of immense importance for India as Olympics is just 2 years away from now and India have done well in recent commonwealth games as well as Asian Games hopes are now high that India is going to perform well in the coming London Olympics as well in 2012. The next edition of the Asiad will be held in Incheon, South Korea, in year 2014.

India was deprived of the Gold in the national game Field Hockey but done really well in the athletics now with 5 gold medals winning medals in total 7 disciplines including boxing, track and field, kabbadi and shooting. With a broken finger Indian boxing sensation Vijendar Kumar won a Gold medal beating World champion from Uzbekistan.

India women also won a gold medal in 4 x 400 meter relay and a gold in kabbadi for women that is introduced this time around in the Asian games where kabbadi for men is a regular tradition now with India wining it for last 6 games and dominating it for decades now.
