Slow start for Guzaarish at Box Office

Movie Poster of Guzaarish
Guzaarish had less than 50% opening at the box office and is not doing really well. As considered as one of the costliest movies ever made in India this expensive dream of Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not doing as expected on the box office. Online reports suggest that movie has some audience in Metros but did badly in rest of the India. Few believe that start is slow but steady and may improve with the time.

Weekend collection for Guzaarish was mere Rs. 15 crore with expected loss of revenue worth Rs. 40 crore during the first week of the release. Movie is doing even bad than Hrithik Roshan's last big hope 'Kites'. Sanjay tried to make a fork between the art and main stream cinema and found audience from neither of them. Online reports suggest that there is nothing for 'aam-janta' in the movie and nothing extraordinary for art movie lovers too.

This week is open for the movie to recover as there were no big releases last week but next week end with few big movies is going to give Guzaarish a tough run. Golmaal 3 did good business and is now near to touching the Rs. 100 crore mark while Action Relayy did poorly at box office during the second week also. And finally about the Guzaarish, India is still not ready for this kind of 'Surrealistic Dark' movies as large number among the audience still comprise of 'aam-janta' who come for the light-hearted entertainment and not to appreciate the art of movie making. Indian directors need to learn these facts fast.

Surrealistic Dark Movies are still far away from something that Indian audience desire when they step into a Cinmea Hall in most parts of India. This kind of movies are going to find some audience in Metro cities but are going to under perform in most parts of India as far as box office collections are concerned.
