Opposition demands JPC, nothing else

L.K. Advani Blog
Work in the Parliament adjourned for 15th day in row during this winter session due to opposition's constant demand for JPC and nothing else in the 2G spectrum scam involving former Telecom Minister A. Raja and others. NDA (National Democratic Alliance) led by BJP today declared that they will not settle for anything less than a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

Addressing a press conference opposition leader L.K. Advani said that government is indifferent to the problem of corruption and it has affected both governance and society in negative manner. He also added that corruption is one issue that NDA feels very strong about and are ready to take some concrete steps to better governance.

The All-party meeting on Tuesday failed to break the more than 10 days long logjam that has almost deadlocked both upper and lower house of the Indian Parliament over the biggest scam in Indian history till date involving unfair alllocation of spectrum in 2G to certain mobile companies by former Telecom Minister A. Raja. Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned for one more day today with opposition constantly demanding for JPC and nothing less.

Advani also added that Mr P.J. Thomas, Central Vigilance Commisioner appointed by central government, who refused to step down, has recused himself from investigations but the fact that he won't resign justifys BJP's stand and shows that government is not serious about corruption especially CWG and 2G spectrum allocation scam.
