Second session of the fourth day's play was the most crucial as the experienced Kallis with the help of Boucher saved the match for South Africa when they were almost down and out with 6 wickets and only 150 odd runs on the board. He made it sure that Indian have to visit South Africa again to register their first test series win in country.
Dhoni after the match told reporters that if they were given the target of 250 - 260 they would have gone for it but 350 odd runs are difficult to get on the last day of the test match. South African Captain Smith believes that both India and South Africa are equally strong teams as they both drew series at home and away. India and South Africa are currently world no.1 and no.2 teams respectively in world test rankings.
Dhoni also felt that India lost the initial advantage after winning the toss at Capetown. He told in the post match press conference that wet pitch and outfield made life bit difficult for bowlers.
India has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in this final test match during South Africa's second innings on day four at Newlands.
